any complex image has synchronicity in the digital age. this allows people like you and me to blow people's minds: our audience is interconnected and feeds back unto itself. the more elements combine in a single image, the more individuals the visual depiction draws in. but what a surprise: your world and mine don't (apparently) touch at all. to me, if the aggregate incorporates certain components, then it serves its purpose. even cheap shit can serve as a tool. here on the board, we cobble together reapplique from others' work in order to transcend static images. images become our language. well, some of us work that way! i only cared that it contained a woman holding a man's severed head. that made it useful. as far as i concern myself, even fine art has no use unless it depicts what i need at the moment i want to post here. images become words, a post becomes a sentence.

yeah... you're right as far as that goes. but what about (just to pick a random image) a picture of king leonidas from 300 with the expression shopped? say his face looks horrified and sad. it's a visual statement; depending on context it's a one-liner or an expression of disapproval. okay, the mouth isn't perfect, but when you need that it's useful. somebody painted a portrait of the virgin mary using feces as the medium. the fact that he used it doesn't make all shit an artistic medium, but the painter wanted to make a statement. the shit was appropos to what he meant to say. while we're on it, for what it is i think the image is good. when you need a picture of a woman holding a severed head, you just fuckin' need one. when you need pthalene blue or cadmium red, you just need it.
